Michael started piano at five and first attempted composing at twelve. From 2005 - 2010, Michael was baritone with Shir Ba'Ir, a Jewish a Cappella group based in Los Angeles, for which he also wrote and arranged music. During this time, he also sang with the Los Angeles Zimriyah Chorale led by Dr. Nick Strimple.
In March, 2010, Michael premiered Hinei Barechu, a new work for choir and piano, at the 7th Annual Beverly Hills Interfaith Concert. In January, 2011, he premiered a new choral setting for Yedid Nefesh at the Shabbat Shira at Valley Beth Shalom.
Michael has since been involved with the Max Helfman Institute of Jewish Music, where he is working with other Jewish composers to create new music inspired by ancient Jewish texts and stories.
