Commissions

JMCLA commissions new Jewish music. A select committee establishes the musical parameters and offers the commissions to promising composers from around the world. Recent commissions include:

2004 - Bennet Salvay - commissioned to compose a pulpit opera based on Joshua II: 1-24 in memory of Dr. Robert Strassburg.

2003 - Dr. Michael Isaacson - commissioned to compose a work for clarinet and string quartet in memory of Dr. Robert Strassburg, entitled Aliyah.
